The Proper Nutritional Lifestyle |

Like most things in life diet and exercise follow the 80/20 rule. Exercise only accounts for about 20% of the appearance of your body, and the other 80% is determined by diet. A group of researchers recently concluded that over your lifetime innovations in medical science will add about 2 years to your life, but simple changes in your diet and daily routines could add 15 years. How’s that for incentive! THE LIVELIKETIM DIET I am not a fan of the “lose-weight-fast” diets. There have been a hundred of them – Atkins Diet, Hollywood Diet, South Beach Diet, etc. While all preach different food choices they all have one thing in common – quick weight loss followed by even more weight gain. None of them are eating lifestyles. They sacrifice long term health and set you up for a cycle of drastic weight fluctuations. The LiveLikeTim Diet is not a weight loss strategy, but you will lose weight…and maintain that weight. The LiveLikeTim Diet isn’t a one-size-fits-all plan either. We are all humans and therefore need about the same nutrients, but we’re also individuals with unique taste buds, genetic history and body composition. Why would you trust my diet over another? I live my diet on a daily basis and have helped countless other people achieve the same dramatic results, from bodybuilding competitors to stay at home moms. This website is designed to introduce critical topics one at a time while balancing all aspect of life. For now, an introduction to the 3 most important diet principles will get you started on the path to wellness. In subsequent phases I'll discuss more in depth concepts that will build off of these principles and help you individualize your diet. Do your best to implement the general LiveLikeTim Meal Plan into your life, or if you need help you can order a personalized meal plan that I will create with you. SUMMARY OF THE LIVELIKETIM DIET PRINCIPLES Principle #1: Why We Eat - we eat because the hunger urge is turned on for either of two reasons - we need calories for energy or nutrients for bodily functions. Ironically, Americans are both overweight and undernourished. We get plenty of calories, but we are deficient in most nutrients. The hunger switch is never shut off because the body is constantly craving vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and essential fatty acids (see the Nutrition article for more information). We need to correct the nutrient deficiency first so our bodies don't crave food in search of the missing nutrients, and consequently supply us with more calories than we can use (which then turns into fat). The best way to start is by beginnng the Essential Nutrients Routine and purchasing the Essential Nutrients Pak. Principle #2: When to Eat - our body needs a constant supply of energy and nutrients throughout the day. We can't expect to eat two large meals and let our bodies spread out the calories and nutrients as needed. Instead, our bodies switch into starvation mode and our metabolism slows down. Weight gain inevitably occurs. The best meal timing is to eat 5-6 times a day, with 3 medium sized meals and 2-3 snacks. You'll never feel hungry and won't be compelled to overeat during lunch and dinner. Principle #3: What to Eat - modern human genetics are 99.99% similar to our ancestors that have evolved for over 3 million years by foraging for plants and hunting for meat. To be healthy and give our bodies what they have genetically evolved to require we must have a natural diet that is similar to our ancestor's diet - we need to eat from nature. The fast pace of modern culture and the technological revolution has drastically changed our food away from its natural state and into nutrient void calorie bombs that cause obesity and disease. Ideally, humans are designed to eat: Before you go freaking out on me because that lifestyle is nearly impossible to sustain, let me say that The LiveLikeTim Diet allows for "celebration occasions" (I despise the term "cheat days"). You don't always need to eat stictly from this plan, just follow the 80/20 rule. Eat as often as you can from the LiveLikeTim Diet Meal Plan. If you fall off for a couple days, get right back up on that horse! I often go weeks eating a healthy diet, then life happens and I slip for a few days (or longer). I just refocus and commit to my health and before I know it the extra 5 pounds I had gained is a distant memory. The important thing is that I know how to eat healthy and I can make informed decisions based on the knowledge I have of the natural human diet. HOW TO BEGIN THE LIVELIKETIM DIET If you're anxious to begin immediately I've included several resources below to get you started, although I highly recommend you read the full article.
